Preliminary Information

Meetings of the Board of Trustees are conducted for the purpose of accomplishing District business. In an effort to ensure a time-efficient and productive business meeting, maximum times have been allotted for each section of the agenda.

Unfold 7.  COMMUNITY COMMENTS (30 Minutes Maximum)   
         
1. Individuals who wish to address the Board on matters that affect the District and its programs are requested to complete a “Request to Address Board of Education” card and submit it to the Board President. Speakers are requested to limit comments to three (3) minutes.     
 

Speakers are requested to limit comments to three (3) minutes. After two minutes, the speaker will be notified that he/ she has one minute remaining. The Board shall limit the total time for public input on each item to thirty (30) minutes. If community comments exceed thirty (30) minutes, remaining comments may be heard at the conclusion of Open Session business in the “Additional Community Comments” section. Please note that, in accordance with Board Policy #9324, all meetings are televised or recorded. (Reference: The Ralph M. Brown Act)

Members of the public may bring before the Board matters that are not listed on the agenda. While the Board welcomes input from the community, they will not respond or take action during public comments.   1. Douglas Newton, Principal of Banning High School, requests permission for the following field trips:
    1. BHS ACADEMY - approximately 40 students will participate in the Long Beach Trade Fair on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, CA. District transportation will be used to transport students and chaperones. Transportation costs will be covered by Academy ASB funds. Banning High School teachers Robert Pierce and Rogelio Garza will serve as chaperones. There is no fiscal impact to the BUSD General Fund for this trip.
    2. BHS ACADEMY - approximately 40 students will participate in the Bay Area Trade Fair on from Saturday, March 14, through Monday, March 16, 2015 at the Oakland Convention Center in Oakland, CA. Students and Chaperones will be staying over night at the Four Points by Sheraton hotel for two nights. District transportation will be used to transport students and chaperones. Transportation, hotel and all costs will be covered by Academy ASB funds. Banning High School teachers Robert Pierce, Kellie James and Rogelio Garza will serve as chaperones. There is no fiscal impact to the BUSD General Fund for this trip.
    3. ASIAN AMERICAN CLUB - approximately 50 students will participate in a study field trip to China Town in Los Angeles on Saturday, February 21, 2015 to attend the LA China Town Golden Dragon Parade and other associated activities for the beginning of the Chinese Lunar Year in observance of the Year of the Wood Goat. District transportation will transport students to the Metrolink Station in San Bernardino and students will travel on the Metrolink to Union Station in Los Angeles and back. All transportation costs will be covered by the Asian American ASB Club funds. Banning High School teachers Stephen Adesina, Gina Eguia, Diane La Chappa, Elizabeth Mayagotia, Scott Young and Special Ed Aide Vang May will serve as chaperones. There is no fiscal impact to the BUSD general fund.
